The Path to the PalliumOn June 29, Archbishop Allen Vigneron received a pallium -- a thin, woolen vestment that symbolizes an archbishop's mission to shepherd God's people. Throughout a pilgrimage over the last several days, Archbishop Vigneron has carried prayers for the people of the Archdiocese in his heart as he has journeyed to Rome to receive his pallium from Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican.

Pope Benedict XVI has declared a 'Year for Priests,' beginning June 19, 2009 and lasting through June 19, 2010. The Holy Father said he hopes to inspire spiritual growth in clergy, and has designated St. John Vianney the Universal Patron of Priests.
