Pope Presents Archbishop Vigneron with a Pallium
 On June 29, Archbishop Allen Vigneron received a pallium -- a thin, woolen vestment that symbolizes an archbishop's mission to shepherd God's people. Throughout a pilgrimage over the last several days, Archbishop Vigneron has carried prayers for the people of the Archdiocese in his heart as he has journeyed to Rome to receive his pallium from Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican.

 We celebrate July 4th as the birthday of our nation. In his prayers for Independence Day Archbishop Vigneron salutes those Americans who have sacrificed "… in the defense of freedom and for the pursuit of justice."
 'Year for Priests' beginsPope Benedict XVI has declared a 'Year for Priests,' beginning June 19, 2009 and lasting through June 19, 2010. The Holy Father said he hopes to inspire spiritual growth in clergy, and has designated St. John Vianney the Universal Patron of Priests.
