10 organizations within the Archdiocese of Detroit have been awarded grants totaling $53,000 from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) to fight hunger and help people in need.
All Saints Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry
Serves 1300 people monthly in southwest Detroit.
Infant Mortality Program/Read Write Now
Helps at risk pregnant women; provides educational/literacy services to young parents and adults within the Highland Park community.
Mercy Education Project
Assists low-income girls, women and families in southwest Detroit with education and life skills.
South Oakland Shelter/VISIT Project
Provides a 90 day program to enable homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency, stability and employment
St. Aloysius Outreach Center/Canticle Café
This downtown Detroit free internet café serves light meals, distributes groceries and instructs the homeless in life/job skills.
St. Augustine & St. Monica/Senior Year Project
Senior citizens volunteer to teach reading skills to students in grades K-8.
St. Christine Christian Services
Supplies Detroit's Brightmoor community with provisions, educational and medical services for young and old alike.
St. Dominic Outreach Center
The homeless, unemployed and working poor receive food, clothing and no-cost bus tickets. Also provides cribs/mattress sets to mothers.
St. Mary Community Outreach Center
Food, clothing, furniture and appliances are available to those in need year-round.
St. Rose Senior Center
The center provides basic food and transportation services to those in need.
