Bishop Flores to Lead Diocese of Brownsville, TX
December 9, 2009 - Pope Benedict XVI has named Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Flores as the 6th bishop of Diocese of Brownsville, Texas.

In the words of Archbishop Vigneron: "The years of Bishop Flores' ministry here in the archdiocese have been a great blessing. He goes with the love and prayers of all us, his family in Detroit – where he will always find a ready welcome 'back home.'"
Following 18 years of ministry in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Bishop Flores, 48, was ordained an auxiliary bishop for Detroit in November 2006. He has served the Archdiocese of Detroit as a regional bishop, advised the archdiocese on immigration issues, and helped establish the Office of Hispanic Affairs.
