Stresses Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue
Cardinal Maida Meets with Muslim Leaders

Click to view larger picture.Cardinal Adam Maida, Imam Hassan Qazwini and other Muslim leaders meet at the Islamic Center of America to strengthen the foundation and collaboration of local Roman Catholic - Muslim dialogue. "Our meeting should not be seen solely as a reaction to the events surrounding Pope Benedict's remarks," says Cardinal Maida. "Rather, it is one more opportunity to affirm our friendship and commitment to dialogue."

Imam Qazwini emphasizes the need for mutual understanding between Catholics and Muslims. "I wish to once more declare my willingness and the willingness of my Muslim brother to fully participate in dialogue to promote Catholic-Muslim relations in ways that ensure the betterment, advancement, and spiritual growth of our respective communities," the Imam says.
