August Prayer Theme:
Eucharist, Food For Mission

During the month of August, as we enjoy freedom of movement and opportunities for vacation and travel, it is good for us to remember the spiritual journey of our lives, our pilgrimage of faith.  The Holy Eucharist is food for the journey and the journey takes us forth with disciples of every time and place, to bring God's Word to others and to nourish them body and spirit.
Heavenly Father, we rejoice in the mystery of your love.  In every time and place, you have nourished your people and guided their pilgrimage of faith.  Renew in our minds and hearts the missionary impulse of the early Church; make us missionaries of the Good News by the way we put our Eucharistic faith into action through works of justice and peace, charity and service.  Through our adoration of your Son's presence in this Sacrament, may we grow in awareness of the hungers of our brothers and sisters and of our ability to respond to them.  We ask all this through Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.  Amen.
