Teaching Position Information

The following information may be helpful as you begin the process of applying to teach in the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

The Archdiocesan Office for Catholic School Personnel does not hire teachers or substitutes centrally. Each school is its own employer of record. The local principal interviews and hires. As a service to the Catholic Schools, this site posts school job openings.

You may wish to contact schools within your geographical area to inquire about openings.

The Archdiocese of Detroit follows the requirements of the Michigan Department for teacher certification. Details are available through the Michigan Department of Education.

To teach in the schools you must be certified and Highly Qualified in the State of Michigan.

The State of Michigan (2005 Public Acts 129-131 and 138) requires all schools to conduct a criminal history/records check on all newly hired school personnel. In light of this legislation you may be required to pay the cost of criminal history/records check.
