The Association of Educational Ministers in Catechist Formation (EMCF)
 
The Association of Educational Ministers in Catechist Formation is a service organization of qualified religious educators, currently certified at Level IV + EMCF by the Office for Faith Formation/Catechetics (or with professional equivalency).  They cooperate with and assist that Office in the direction and vision of catechist formation.
 
The Association is a forum for the mutual exchange of ideas, resources and information related to catechist formation.
  • Requirements for Membership
    • Current PCL certification at Level IV (or professional equivalency )
    • Successful completion of the EMCF Formation Program
    • Participation in the annual meeting(s) of the Association

  • Services of Members
    • Presentation of the Twenty-Seven Foundational Topics and facilitation of Echoes of Faith Plus
    • Approval of catechist formation outlines and programs based on current OFF/C guidelines
    • Assessing and granting of equivalencies
    • Supervision of Catechist Formation programs within their vicariates
    • Approval of candidates' credentials for Advanced Catechist Certification
    • Member of a Michigan Nonpublic School Accreditation Association team for Catholic School accreditation
    • Supervision of EMCF candidates
    • Ad hoc working committees of the Association

Professional equivalency is any one of the following: a) retired PCL who was certified as Level IV + EMCF, b) former PCL who was certified as Level IV + EMCF and is now ministering in professional ministries in which he/she engages in ongoing professional and ministerial education, c) professional minister who has a Master's Degree in Theology or Religious Studies.
