Six priests reach
senior priest status this year

Fr. Robert K. Singelyn
Fr. Singelyn, 71, was born in Highland Park. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and St. John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth Township.

He was ordained June 4, 1960, and celebrated his first Mass at St. Mary Parish, St. Clair.

Fr. Singelyn served as assistant pastor at St. Benedict Parish, Highland Park (1960-63); as student counselor at Bishop Gallagher High School, Harper Woods (1963-70); as chaplain at Holy Cross Hospital, Detroit (1963-64); and as an Army Reserve chaplain (1965-69).

He became pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Recife, Brazil, in 1969 and served there until his retirement June 30.


Fr. Jasper F. Sirianni
Fr. Sirianni, 86, was born in Kane, Pa. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and St. Mary Seminary, Norwood, Ohio.

He was ordained Oct. 26, 1946, and celebrated his first Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Detroit.

Fr. Sirianni served as assistant pastor at St. Alphonsus Parish, Dearborn (1946-51); St. Ignatius Parish, Detroit (1951-54); St. Clement Parish, Dearborn (1954-59); and St. Edward Parish, Detroit (1959-63).

He was the founding pastor of St. Theodore Parish, Westland in 1963 and served there until 1967. He also served as pastor at St. Philip Neri, Detroit (1967-70) and at St. Matthias, Sterling Heights (1970-81).

Fr. Sirianni became pastor at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Emmet, in 1981 and served as pastor until he became a senior priest in 1991. He continued to serve at Our Lady of Mount Carmel as administrator from then until his retirement Jan. 1.


Fr. Francis S. Skalski
Fr. Skalski, 77, was born in Detroit. He attended St. Mary's College, Orchard Lake, and St. John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth Township.

He was ordained June 2, 1956, and celebrated his first Mass at St. Francis d' Assisi Parish, Detroit.

Fr. Skalski served as assistant pastor at St. Florian Parish, Hamtramck (1956-60); at St. John Cantius Parish, Detroit (1960-65); at St. Ladislaus Parish, Hamtramck (1965-69); and at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish, Detroit (1969-1971).

He became pastor of St. Hyacinth Parish, Detroit, in 1971 and served there until his retirement June 30.


Fr. James F. Trent
Fr. Trent, 70, was born in Detroit. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and St. John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth Township.

He was ordained June 2, 1962 and celebrated his first Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Detroit.

Fr. Trent served as assistant pastor at St. Alphonsus Parish, Dearborn (1962-66) and at St. Martin of Tours Parish, Detroit (1966-70). He served as associate pastor at Precious Blood Parish, Detroit (1970-78).

He then served as pastor of Our Lady Queen of Hope Parish, Detroit (1978-85) and as administrator of St. Christine Parish, Detroit (1985).

Fr. Trent then served in the Diocese of Tuscon, Ariz., as director of Christian formation and ministry and in the deacon program (1985-88), and also served as a chaplain with the western region of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (1986-94). He then served as religious services administrator for the prison bureau (1994-97).

He served in the Diocese of Santa Rosa, Calif., in detention ministry and as a supply priest (1997-2000) before becoming administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Fortuna, Calif., and St. Patrick Mission, Loleta, Calif. (2000). He later was appointed as pastor of St. Joseph and was appointed as administrator of St. Patrick, Scotia, Calif., and Our Lady of the Redwoods, Garberville, Calif. (2004).

He will continue to minister at all four parishes until his Aug. 1 retirement.


Fr. Donald L. Walker
Fr. Walker, 74, was born in Detroit. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and St. John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth Township.

He was ordained June 7, 1958, and celebrated his first Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Farmington.

Fr. Walker served as assistant pastor at St. Mary of Redford Parish, Detroit (1958-60). He then served as assistant principal and teacher at Sacred Heart School, Dearborn (1961-70) and on the faculty at Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit (1961-70).

He also served as co-pastor at St. Philip Neri Parish, Detroit (1970-75) before serving as pastor (1975-89). He also served as administrator at St. Martin of Tours Parish, Detroit (1981-89) and as associate pastor at St. Blase Parish, Sterling Heights (1990-94) and St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Redford Township (1994-2000).

He became pastor of St. Martha Parish, Dearborn in 2000 and served there until his retirement June 30.


Fr. Wojciech Wojcicki
Fr. Wojcicki, 69, was born in Warsaw, Poland. He attended SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Orchard Lake. He was ordained June 9, 1990.

He served as associate pastor at St. Thecla Parish, Clinton Township (1990); at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park (1990-91); and at Our Lady Queen of Apostles, Hamtramck (1991-99).

Fr. Wojcicki became associate pastor at St. Edmund Parish, Warren, in 1999 and served there until his retirement June 30.
