Watch the Papal Visit
During his visit to the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC on April 17, Pope Benedict thanked Cardinal Maida for his dedication and determination in building the facility.
In the chapel at the center, gifts were exchanged. Cardinal Maida presented the Holy Father with 18 karat gold cuff links bearing the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center logo, a bound book containing the names of the first 12,000 donors who supported the center in its effort to host the papal visit, and an icon from a Chicago donor family. Pope Benedict, in turn, presented Cardinal Maida with a very special portrait of Pope John Paul II.
