Detroit Catholic Leader on General Motors Bankruptcy
Issued: June 1, 2009
Subsequent to the bankruptcy filing of General Motors, Detroit's Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron makes the following statement:
"The news concerning General Motors adds to the disruption and uncertainty already faced by many of our fellow citizens. All of those impacted by these latest developments are in my prayers. I invite the Catholic faithful to join with me as we implore the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, for her comfort in these times of economic distress. And we humbly ask for her intercession with Jesus, her Son, to strengthen all of those bearing the burdens of the challenges before us."
Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron Archdiocese of Detroit
A multi-media, interactive presentation of the devotional prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, is offered by Archbishop Vigneron every Tuesday at 6 p.m. Simultaneously, the devotional is broadcast on the Catholic Television Network of Detroit (CTND); carried by Michigan Catholic Radio (WCAR 1090AM); and posted as a podcast. Prayer responses and recordings of the weekly devotional also can be found on the Web site. CTND and WCAR present encore broadcasts of the devotional on Wednesdays.
