Funeral Service for Matt Landry

Issued:August 18, 2009
Contact: Ned McGrath, infodesk@aod.org / (313) 237-5943

The funeral service for Matt Landry, the 21-year-old victim of a carjacking in Eastpointe, will be held on Wednesday, August 19, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 40501 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights. The body will lie in state a half-hour preceding the service. Fr. Michael Quaine, pastor, will preside at the funeral. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.

The Archdiocesan Department of Communications relays a request from the parish, that no recording devices—video, audio, or still photography—be allowed inside the church building at any time before, during or following the funeral service. Interviews may be conducted outside the building, in the church parking lot.

In order to reserve spaces for those attending the funeral, we respectfully ask that media vehicles be parked only on the perimeter of the church parking lot.

In addition, it is the policy of Resurrection Cemetery that no media vehicles, recording devices or cameras be allowed, and no interviews be done on cemetery grounds.

Reporters and crews covering this story are reminded of the solemnity of this occasion and are asked to heed the instructions of ushers, funeral directors and church personnel while on parish property, and to be sensitive in what is a difficult time for those in attendance. They are asked to respect the privacy of the Landry family and their need for personal space.
