In honor of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish's 100th Anniversary Celebration, the Cathedral Cultural Series presented "To Hope! A Celebration," composed in 1981 by Dave Brubek. Featured performers included Matt Michaels, jazz saxophonist Chris Collins, the Archdiocesan Chorus (link to their section) and orechstra and the Wayne State University Concert Chorale, under the direction of Norah Duncan IV.

For almost 2,000 years, composers have set the Roman Catholic Mass in the style that reflected the culture of the people. Noted American jazz composer and pianist Dave Brubek has continued in this tradition with his work To Hope! A Celebration.
