Eldering Seminars

The purpose of the seminars is to offer quality, practical, and user-friendly materials to anyone who seeks new challenges in this potentially growth-filled area. They can also be of great help to those who work with older adults.
  • Review the past and create a "Keep File."
  • Reclaim your unlived life.
  • Expand your boundaries.
  • Enrich your personal potential.
  • Learn practical activities.
  • Gain access to easy suggestions.
  • Reflect on where you've been and where you're going.
  • Discover how to love yourself and others in a way you've never loved before!

To Book A Seminar

All bookings in the Archdiocese of Detroit are arranged through contacting the Office for Family Life. Dr. Fenker is the presenter and is available to present and facilitate her exciting work on Eldering in various formats including: 1 to 3 hour seminars, day-long workshops / retreats, and 2–3 day workshops / retreats.

Dr. Angelita Fenker, SFCC

Dr. Fenker was the International Associate Director of Families For Prayer, Albany N.Y. for 16 years and conducted workshops ecumenically throughout the United States and Canada on military bases, in schools and prisons.

Her doctorate is in Spirituality with a focus on 'family spirituality.' She served a three-year term on the U.S. Bishops' Committee on Marriage and Family, and was very active in the Family Life Conference.

She has been published in many magazines and newspapers, and has been on radio and television, including a three-part series on PBS: "The Spirituality of Eldering," (her word).

She has done much work to develop stages Five and Six of the Family Life Cycle, which deal with retirement, eldering and related issues. She has done post-doctoral studies in the field of aging, grief, mourning and bereavement, and has conducted many seminars, ecumenically, throughout the United States and Canada.

Dr. Fenker cared for her parents for many years. (Her father died at 85, her mother at 100). She now resides in Indiana and ministers as a freelance writer and lecturer. She is currently a Family Life Consultant for the Office for Family Life of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
