A relatively new, yet deeply rooted in our tradition, methodology which is happening in parishes throughout the country – and in many parishes in our archdiocese is the Question of the Week.

Question of the Week provides a simple and realistic, but profound, way to reflect on the Scripture readings we hear proclaimed each week at the Sunday liturgy.

The Question of the Week prompts us to listen to and hear the Word of God in a new way, not only with our ears, but with our minds and hearts.  The Scriptural Word is a great gift.  The Question of the Week helps us to be open to this gift of the Word of God.

Several catechetical leaders and publishers of our Catholic textbooks have provided resources for Question of the Week and/or have prepared questions based on the weekly readings and have generously given permission for the questions to be used in parishes and dioceses:

Suggestions for Using The Question of the Week

Ideally, the homilist concludes the homily by posing this question for all to consider for their week-long reflection.

Publish the Question of the Week in the Sunday bulletin – or as a bulletin insert.  Repeat it on all meeting agendas, other parish communications, catechetical and school newsletters, etc. during the week.

Ask each group that meets at the parish during the week to share about this question as part of their prayer.

Invite members of every parish household to include sharing about this question during the week at home.
