Vicariate Pastoral Services is comprised of specialized ministries working with parishes, institutions and the community. Those who minister in these areas receive extensive, specialized training. These services, reaching beyond individual parish boundaries, are funded largely by Catholic Services Appeal.

Criminal Justice Ministry serves juvenile detention facilities, jails and prisons in all six counties of the Archdiocese. Professional Criminal Justice Chaplains work with 400 volunteers, providing services including Eucharistic celebrations, bible study, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and service opportunities. Also, CJM assists eligible families and those re-entering society obtain financial resources and emotional support.
Health Care Chaplaincy provides pastoral care for the sick and dying, their families and caregivers. Chaplains training those who visit the sick in parishes, expand the ministry beyond hospital walls.
The Catholic Church has been active in the resettlement of refugees since the end of WWII. Here in the Detroit area, the archdiocese began to resettle refugees in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Since that time we have settled more than 8,000 refugees.
Ministry to the Deaf Community offers deaf Catholics active participation in the life of a church meeting their particular, cultural needs. Key components of this ministry involve outreach to senior citizens, children and young adults.
