Marriage Preparation
Congratulations on your engagement and your upcoming wedding. Your journey is just beginning and it is important that you plan for your lifetime commitment together. A Marriage Preparation Program is an opportunity for you to gather with other engaged couples and focus on your marriage beyond the wedding. A facilitator presents skills and guides a discussion that will assist you in living out a lifetime commitment in marriage together. You will be amazed how these insights will strengthen your relationship and help build for a better marriage.
The Bishops of Michigan have suggested the following topics be included:
- Marriage as a Sacrament
- Conflict resolution
- Careers
- Family of origin
- Catholic understanding of sexuality and marriage
|
- Communication
- Children
- Commitment and Church
- Intimacy, sex and procreation
- Natural Family Planning
|
The Office for Family Ministry has compiled a brochure which lists Marriage Preparation Programs (which includes Remarriage preparation programs) conducted within the Archdiocese of Detroit. It is a resource for parishes and individuals. It is not a comprehensive list nor does it represent an endorsement.
