Guest and Transfer Students

Guest Status
A guest student is any student who has matriculated at another graduate institution and who wishes to take a graduate course at SHMS. A completed Michigan Uniform Graduate Guest Application, or its equivalent, must be submitted to the dean of studies prior to enrolling.

Transfer of Credits
It is the responsibility of the student to authorize and request academic records and transcripts to be sent to SHMS. All records and transcripts must be received prior to registration.

All transfer credits:

1. Represent work that is applicable to the student's chosen course of study.
2. Represent work that is equivalent to the work for which it is to be substituted at SHMS.
3. Have a passing grade of C or better.
4. Will be recorded on the student's transcript with the grade of TR.
5. Will not affect the student's GPA at SHMS.
6. Must be approved by the dean of studies.

The dean of studies must approve coursework taken by correspondence and/or through the Internet or other mass media. Transfer students should be aware that every degree has a minimum number of credits that must be earned at SHMS.
