Rev. Daniel Trapp Assistant Dean of Studies Associate Professor of Theology

Rev. Daniel Trapp was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 1, 1958.
He attended Catholic and public schools in the Detroit area. After attending the University of Michigan for two years, he enrolled in Sacred Hear Seminary from which he graduated with a major in history in 1980. He studied at the North American College in Rome where he received an STB from the Gregorian University in 1984, an STL in sacramental theology from the Athenaeum Sant' Anselmo in 1987 and an STD in sacramental theology in 1989.
He has taught at Sacred Heart Major Seminary's School of Theology since 1989, directed the Archdiocesan Office of Catechetics for three years, and has been a pastor of parishes in the City of Detroit since 1991. He has been pastor of SS Augustine and Monica parish since 1996. He has served as Spiritual Director of the School of Theology since 1995 and leads Sacred Heart Major Seminary Desert Formation Program to the Holy Land and Western Europe.
He has preached numerous retreats and seminars for priests, seminarians, and laity. Fr. Trapp has formerly served as the President of Southwest Detroit Historical Society, 1993-1998, Interim President of the Federation of Seminary Spiritual Directors, 1997-1998, member of the Archdiocese of Detroit Presbyteral Council, 1997-1999, member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Priestly Formation, Creighton University, 2000, and member of the Institute for Priestly Formation team workshop on celibacy at the Mt. St. Mary's Seminary, 2002.
In addition to his responsibilities as spiritual director and associate professor of theology in the School of Theology, he will serve the institution on the M.Div. Degree Committee, M.Div. Admissions Committee and the Priestly Formation Team.
