2008 Desert Classic Highlights
Founded by seminary supporter Edward Bovich, the Desert Classic helps to fund the summer Desert Formation Experience program for first-year theology seminarians.
After a gorgeous day out on the course, the golfers moved indoors to the Grande Ballroom to enjoy a reception of good food and the company of good friends, old and new. Seminarian Jorge Miramontes, a second-year theology student, shared memories of his 2008 Desert Formation Experience, while slides of the annual spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Rome were displayed in the background.
The 2008 first place team included Fr. Mike Hrydziuszko, Mark Morrow, Steve Sierawski and Sal Simone. In second place were Fr. Steve Burr, Carl Myler, David Myler, Dan Myler and Tom Myler Jr. Captained by Fr. Karl Pung, the third place team also included Tom Butts, Erich Mau, Ralph Hazen and Dan Perreault.
The Closest to the Pin trophy went to Deacon Mark Redwine, at six feet, three inches. Fr. Jerry Brzezinski took the prize for the Accuracy Shot, at a mere one inch from the mark.
On behalf of our seminarians and the entire seminary community, we would like to thank our golfers and our sponsors, whose continued support and generosity is truly a blessing to us all. We hope to see you next year for our twenty-seventh Desert Classic, on Monday, September 28, 2009, for the benefit of our seminarians, for the glory of God and for fun!
