On behalf of The Most Reverend Allen H. Vigneron, Archbishop of Detroit, and the seminarians, lay students, faculty and staff of Sacred Heart Major Seminary, thank you for your prayerful consideration to support the seminary.
Our Lord Jesus Christ calls us all to be His disciples and therefore to a life of stewardship in mission. All gifts and talents come from our loving Father and in faith are returned to Him.
It is my hope that you come to understand the importance of Sacred Heart's mission, and your role in it. Your support will enable us to continue this sacred mission of forming the next generation of shepherds—parish priests, deacons and lay ministers—who will serve the people of God.
Your Support Makes a Difference
Of course, this essential work of preparing shepherds for the Church—equipping our priests, deacons and lay ministers with the formation they require for providing effective service—is made possible only by your prayers, your encouragement and your generous charitable support.
Pray
- Offer up the simple prayer of exhortation of Jesus to his disciples: "Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Matthew 9:38).
- Pray for our seminarians, lay students, faculty, staff and those who even now are discerning their vocation.
Encourage
- Think of the people around you. Is there someone who possesses qualities that would serve well in Church ministry? When you recognize people of deep faith whom you think would make a good priest, deacon or lay minister, invite them to consider the priesthood or other religious vocations. Your invitation to consider it might be just the encouragement they need.
Contribute
- Your financial contribution to Sacred Heart Major Seminary makes an immediate and profound impact on our seminarians' priestly formation. Contributions are used to meet the most pressing needs for seminarian education.
- Consistent giving is the financial lifeblood sustaining the Seminary's vital mission of forming parish priests, deacons and lay ministers to serve the Catholic faithful of southeast Michigan and beyond.
- We count on the support of many faithful Catholics from all around the country who value the mission and vision of Sacred Heart Major Seminary and want to invest in its future. The entire seminary community is encouraged and humbled by the amazing support that we have received from thousands of generous donors who contribute to Sacred Heart.

Your gift allows for increased financial assistance for deserving students. Currently over 100 seminarians are preparing for the priesthood. This is the largest number since the refounding of Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 1988, and the first time the number has been over 100 in almost four decades.
Your gift reaches around the globe. The important work of Sacred Heart Major Seminary is recognized throughout the world, as students hail from South America, Europe, Africa, and even Asia.
Your gift provides for much needed renovations to our building.
Your gift enables us to hire the most dedicated and highly credentialed seminary faculty in the nation.
Your gift helps with the development of innovative programs that prepare our students for the pastoral challenges of delivering the message of Christ in this modern secularized society. This includes the new Licentiate in Sacred Theology in the New Evangelization—the first program of its kind in the United States.
Your gift facilitates the acquisition of new educational technology that enables us to provide access to our programs around the world.
Most importantly, your gift empowers us to train the next generation of well-formed, happy and holy priests, deacons, and lay ministers who bring the love and mercy of God to all of us.
