Meet Our Newest Administrators
MOSAIC, Fall 2008

Astrid Caicedo, Assistant Dean Of Studies
In May, Michelle Szczepanski announced her departure from Sacred
Heart to take on a new position at St. Andrew Parish in Rochester. Sacred Heart initiated a search and we were blessed with a candidate whose experience clearly indicated she could contribute immediately to the vibrant academic programs at Sacred Heart.

Astrid Caicedo is originally from Michigan, but for the last seven years has been national coordinator of the Institute for Pastoral Theology at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida. Her experience in coordinating a national graduate program, as well as the complexities of negotiating a variety of requirements from multiple accrediting agencies, will provide a smooth transition for the academic programs. Ms. Caicedo is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in political science and French language and literature. She has her  Secondary Education Teaching Certification for the state of Michigan.

John Meldurm, Registrar
At the end of the academic year, Janet Galea retired from her registrar position and Sacred Heart hired John Meldrum as the new registrar. Mr. Meldrum comes to Sacred Heart with experience as an office manager and admissions representative at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Most recently he served as the director of faith formation at St. Louis Parish in Clinton Township.

The Office of the Registrar requires someone with excellent  organizational skills and an ability to multi-task during peak periods. At the same time, the registrar needs to possess well-developed interpersonal skills, especially in light of the number of students that pass through the Dean of Studies Office for registration, add/drop, transcript requests, audits, etc. Mr. Meldrum possesses the ability to move the seminary forward with his technical skills as well as his genuine warmth in dealing with students and faculty. Look for our online services to develop quickly under Mr. Meldrum.

Janet Diaz, Assistant Dean Of The Institute For Ministry And Director Of Admissions And Enrollment Management
The seminary welcomes Janet Diaz to our community. She will work within the Institute for Ministry and be responsible for admissions and enrollment management. She has a rich academic background with a BA in English from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MA degree (also from the University of Pittsburgh) in linguistics, with a certificate as an instructor in ESL. She has been coordinator for AOD–First National Encounter for Hispanic youth and young adult ministry as well as the regional coordinator for Hispanic ministry in the Archdiocese of Detroit. Most recently, Mrs. Diaz earned her MAPS degree from Sacred Heart Major Seminary (2008) and has been the pastoral minister for Hispanic ministry at St. Alfred Parish in Taylor. Her experience in the secular business world and within the church, and her academic background, will make a significant and immediate impact.
