February Happenings at The Retreat Center
- Highlights for February are the marriage-related programs.
- On Sunday February 15th The Retreat Center held the fourth annual Tables-for-Two dinner. Twenty couples enjoyed the program that included a guided conversation, lead by Mr. Chuck Snyder, to accompany each course. The Chef's special meal was served with a flourish in an elegant setting. Couples were invited to attend the Sunday evening Mass following dinner. This traditional event usually has a waiting list.
- The next weekend, February 21-22, David Grobbel, Coordinator of Marriage Preparation and Records conducted the Covenant Love Retreat, a one and a half day marriage preparation program. Thirty-five couples took advantage of the opportunity to explore topics important to a successful marriage, from sacramental aspects to practical components such as communication and finances. Evaluations indicate that this is a valuable experience that opens up new areas for conversation among the engaged.
- In addition to our own programs, we hosted World-Wide Marriage Encounter and an additional weekend retreat for married couples.
- Introduction to Moral Theology and Learning to Pray with the Bible continued on Thursday evenings.
- Youth continue to be an important part of Center activity. Three confirmation retreats and six high school retreats enabled Center staff to experience the energy and vitality of the young.
- Adult spiritual development was happening among clergy attending the Good Leaders/Good Shepherds Program as well as for leaders of Secular Institutes, two university faculties, a high school Dad's Club and a large men's retreat.
- Our Protestant friends from five different communities came to pray and learn.
