June Happenings at The Retreat Center
  • The standout this month was the number of national Catholic organizations and religious congregations, which convened for prayer and development at The Retreat Center. We were pleased to welcome new groups along with more familiar faces.

  • The Castelot Summer Scripture, a program with a long history at St. John's sponsored by the Office for Pastoral Ministries, once again presented scriptural scholarship on which participants have come to rely for renewal each June.

  • A group of men and women spent two weeks in a program preparing for final commitment in their various religious communities.

  • The Office for Clergy Life and Ministry conducted a segment of the Good Leaders, Good Shepherds Program for a third cohort of clergy.

  • An annual retreat for a Catholic Community gave a large group of their members time for learning and prayer.

  • Four Protestant communities chose St. John for their June retreat, many of them having had previous experiences at the Center.

  • We welcomed a congregation of religious priests and brothers for their assembly.

  • In addition to the large groups, a number of smaller groups came for prayer and to deepen relationships in one way or another. They included a college faculty, a sisters' mission group, a Catholic Singles Encounter, a men's prayer group and the St. John Seminary Class of 1956 reunion and others.

  • Around 700 guests graced our house during June.
