April Happenings at The Retreat Center
  • In April the gardens at St. John donned their spring apparel. Bradford Pear trees stood at splendid attention all around the campus and multiple patches of mostly red tulips grabbed our attention between rainy and sunny days.

  • The stand-out group of participants at The Retreat Center this month was youth. More than 200 young Catholics spent a day of retreat preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation. Two large teen retreats and training for teen leaders in discipleship brought an additional 250 students through our doors for some sort of renewal of their baptismal commitment.

  • A variety of Protestant communities returned for weekend retreats, with a registration of more than 250 participants in all.

  • One congregation of Women Religious sent 55 delegates to their Chapter, which was held at the Center after Easter. We were privileged to host this important, even life-changing event and support the sisters in their prayer and work.

  • A Large group retreat for an organization of Catholic social service providers nearly filled the house for several days.

  • Three separate national Catholic organizations, slightly less than 100 people in all, took advantage of The Retreat Center environment for their work, prayer, and relaxation. One group that was here for the first time promised to return. We are especially grateful to our colleagues in the Archdiocese who invited their professional colleagues to The Retreat Center.

  • The Sacred Heart Major Seminary course concluded as did the Spring edition of Learning to Pray with the Bible.
