Securing a Wedding Date

According to the Provincial Guidelines for Marriage Preparation (1999) adopted by the Bishops of Michigan, St. John Chapel is not able to guarantee, hold or confirm a wedding date until we have verified you are free to marry in the Catholic Church.

Chapel Days and Times Available for Weddings

Friday	3pm	5pm*	7pm*
Saturday	10am	12pm	2pm**	4pm*	6pm*

*These times are reserved for those couples also holding their reception at The Inn at St. John's.

**In addition, the 2 p.m. time, during the months of May-October, will also be reserved for those couples also holding their reception at the Inn at St. John's. (Change effective 2/06/09). Please contact The Inn at St. John's for availability and pricing for on-site reception information.

Weddings will not be celebrated in the Chapel on Sundays, Holy Days, Holy Week, Easter, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day.

Chapel Fee

Fee: $1100

Includes musician, cantor and two wedding assistants.
Chapel Fee is due when wedding date is confirmed.
Chapel Fee is non-refundable.
$500.00 of the Chapel Fee is tax-deductible.

A stipend payable to the priest or deacon who presides at the service is an accepted practice.

Ceremony / Liturgy Guidelines

St. John Chapel welcomes you and asks that persons involved in wedding festivities respect this Holy and Sacred place in all visits to The Retreat Center at St. John's. The celebration of weddings taking place at the St. John Chapel are under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Detroit, therefore it is a liturgy of the Catholic Church. While we will make every effort to accommodate special ceremony requests, we must adhere to the chapel policies set by the Worship Office of the Archdiocese.
